How do you catch price changes on supplier invoices?

Compare each line's unit price to the last price you paid for the same item in the same pack size.

It reads the invoice, you check the lines it flags.

Steps

  1. Keep a running sheet of item, pack size, unit price and date.
  2. Check each new invoice against it, line by line.
  3. Watch for a higher unit price, a smaller pack at the same price, a deal or discount that stopped, and new fees such as delivery, fuel or split case.
  4. Look hardest at the first invoices of the month, when many beverage price lists and deals change.
  5. Mark every change on the sheet with the date, so the next invoice has a new price to check against.
